What People Are Saying:

Also, I was really struck by your comment about not gaslighting oneself during play. I think I have done this not only to myself but my husband.

Done. I listened to the video lat night (UK time) and took notes. This morning I was helping M get dressed and we got to the part where he likes to do up one button on his school top. He usually fusses and I often help him with the button. This morning he started complaining and I realised that I would usually say "It's ok, it's ok...!" I didn't realise that I said that phrase! I stopped myself, and he persevered and did up the button. Our morning went relatively smoothly today, for various reasons. I'd asked M to do some reading with a computer program that his school use, while I went to start breakfast. He did it! Later, he put on his fluro cycling vest by himself - he usually asks for help. We left in good time, so the school journey was more relaxed than some days. Thanks for helping me to be more aware of my words. x

I am getting better with boundaries. One thing that I am working on is the giving them what they need while respecting my own boundaries.
